Prolusion.
Polish band newspaperflyhunting has been a feature in the Polish progressive rock scene for the past 20 years, exploring their particular take on the progressive rock tradition on six full length studio albums so far, as well as on several EPs. "Timeless" is the most recent of their studio productions, and was self released at the very end of 2025.

Analysis.
Newspaperflyhunting are generally regarded as a post-rock band, and I suspect that fans of this subset of the progressive rock universe will find the landscapes explored on this production rather familiar sounding too when regarded in that light. Especially in terms of the structure and development of these compositions. The songs will typically open as more careful and delicate affairs, and gradually grow to become more fleshed out in sound and form and usually with darker moods and atmospheres added to the landscapes explored as a part of that process. With some of these creations concluding on a similar note as they started out too.

Elegant, plucked guitar details and floating sounds or drone-like features are stapled in these landscapes, but arguably with a little bit more of an atmospheric laden intent and orientation than one strictly adhering to traditional post-rock productions. We also get vocals being quite a bit of a presence here, these typically being light in tone and careful in delivery. A good fit for the often tranquil and slower paced material we have at hand here.

Each of the four songs comes with their own set of unique traits too. Psychedelic guitar soloing and primal sounding guitar deliveries are present on 'A Moment', brooding undercurrents and a little bit of a vintage sounding darker toned guitar presence are featured on 'Distant Shores Apart', a noise rock style guitar motif pops up for an extended stay on 'No Real Feeling'. As well as what may be a little bit of a subtle new wave influence. While final cut 'Go Back' follows a classic post-rock trajectory from the opening floating textures through to the noise rock guitar motif that transforms into something darker and more menacing at the end.

This combines into quite the atmospheric laden experience, and one that has a solid quality to it at that. Arguably with a bit more focus on distinct moods and atmospheric laden landscapes than to explore a more typical post-rock expression.

Conclusion.
Those who enjoy an elegant variety of atmospheric laden progressive rock, with liberal amounts of delicate and beautiful sounding passages, should feel right at home with the material present on this most recent album from newspaperflyhunting. Especially if such excursions explored inside of a post-rock oriented context is material you tend to enjoy.
